Here are a couple more days and two weeks worht of images, happy browsing. Muz!

12 May 08
Another hard long day, I think we clocked my personal record of 40km now 85. The BNT followed mostly on gravel roads, a sharp turn up Hodges Rd led us through a pass on Pelton Range, it was tough as all bones mostly pushing and some slow riding as the gradient was steep on a winding 4×4 track. It’s deffinatly a difference with the Bob trailers, an hour later we arrived at the top with a fast track down hill the Bob bounced almost off the planet leaving me unstuck in a few scary situations.
Mulaine Pub was our lunch stop. This is where our detour started to bypass the unpassable mountain ranges, locked gates and angry goats. 45 more k’s sore thighs and bums.

13 May 08
A night at the old christain centre dedicated by Reg Crust a local farmer in the valleys of Mt Silvia. We awoke to dozen farm hands planting cauliflower with son Brian Crust now leading the way. It’s great to have a venue like this for us to use, simple things like showers, toilets and the wokers smoko room with a kettle.

Reg came around at 6:30 for a chat about the BNT and a great storie on how he dedicated his time latter in life to the lord and helping others. This storie was deffinatley an experience which can only be told by Reg and your experience on the BNT. This moringin we were straight into the ride with an exasperating five hundred metre altitude climb over two k’s. We all had our own way of tackling this geological feature, I would ride 100m slowly and pull up to rest, Terry would ride till he could ride now more. Calan and Dave started pushing from the bottom and when the incline declined theyed ride. Tony wih his panniers zoomed to the top. I don’t think experience or fitness matters, pain hurts us all.
After all this we rolled eight k’s down through a valley to our camp at the bottem end of Ma Ma Creek, another creek with no water.

Day 5, 14 May 2008, Ma Ma Creek to Toowoomba Booked into the Ambasadore Motel 56 J 0410156-6932803
Another grueling day pushing bikes up hills and riding through narrow tracks with lantana and following a trail marker that pointed in the wrong direction. Forced to divert from asection of the trail because this was now a construction site. A bad day for Calan. He hit the wall on the toowoomba range. At the top, he noticed that he had the trailer brake 0n.

Day 8 17 May 2008,
Terry decided to detour direct to kilkivan via the highway. More parts were ordered and Terry’s son Adam collected them up took them out to terry who was riding towards Kilkivan. Terry returned to the Sunshine Coast to fix the bike. Muzza Calan and Dave continued on the trail towards Kilkivan.

Day 12, 21 May 2008, R318 to Eliot Camped at 56 J 0436491-7179581
Nice day riding with forrestry trails and undulating countryside. The residents at Eliot were very helpful. Allowed us to camp at the rural fire station property, offered us hot showers and food which we gratefully accepted. We all signed the visitors book and purchased a few beers from the fire Brigade.

With love Terry!

At Kilkivan we had the pleasure of staying at Kilkivan Bush Camping run by Steve & Sue. A beautiful open parkland style of camping, very informal with a lot of campfire pits available that was very welcoming when the temperature started to drop. It’s such a relaxing place to stay, open spaces, limited to a small number of sites and incredibly friendly and generous hosts. And there were beautiful hot showers available so we washed all the dust and dirt off from the last 7 days. We‚Äôd also like to thank Steve and Sue for the donation to the Cancer Foundation. Thanks Jenny

Pre-ride update

Talk about cutting a fine line, In the last week I have bought all the camping equipment needed for the trip. My brand new White Lion (Trek Ex 9) arrived on Tuesday along with the Bob Trailer, giving me no time to test and adjust. Anyway check out the White Lion below.

I have to give my thanks to Mal & Toni of Innisfail Cycle & Sports, they were a big help in selecting the bike/trailer and accessories for the job. These guys organize a heap of activities around Innisfail such as running and mountain biking so if your in the area pop in and say G’day.

Ok it’s heading onto 1am and I have to be at the airport in 5hrs for Brisy to meet the guys for the start of the ride on Saturday. From now on I’ll be blogging every 5-7 days when we pass through towns with an internet connection. So keep checking back and don’t be afraid to post comments.

Lots of love Muzza!!!
