Every year I have a massive clean up; throwing out old jocks, getting aquainted with lost toys and getting rid of things I just don’t use. No matter the cost, that’s right I’m not a keeper.
Now here is one I will have to keep. I found it by accident in a box of my dads camera gear – an original Nikon FM2, some really high class lenses for their time, but that’s not it. It fell out from under the padding in the box…”a piece of paper” from his years in the Australian Navy, Developing and printing of personal films .
I remember him telling me (and yes he’s still alive) how he had express permission from the Exectutive Officer to develop film and sell prints on board of HMAS Derwent. During this time he made extra cash to help fund his onshore activities on his tours around the globe.
All in all, it is a great peice of sentimental history, if your lucky and ask him nicely he might develop some file for you at 50c each. Nice…
